18.
19.
20.
21. [ November 14th, 2009 ]
22.
23.
24.
25.
26.
27. General:
28.
29. . Release size for reencoded dvd must be 4.3-4.37 Gb.
30.
31. . PAL after NTSC and NTSC after PAL is allowed.
32.
33. . Widescreen releases are allowed after Fullscreen.
34.
35. . Fullscreen releases NOT allowed after Widescreen.
36.
37.
38.
39.
40.
41. Video:
42.
43. . Re-encoding:
44.
45. . CCE version v2.50 or better must be used in all
46.
47. circumstances where re-encoding of the video
48.
49. stream is required. REmpeg and TMPGenc are NOT allowed.
50.
51. New unknown or unreleased encoders are not strictly
52.
53. forbidden, however use at your own risk.
54.
55. . Automated Programs that perform DVD9>DVD5 rips are
56.
57. FORBIDDEN, e.g. InstanCopy, DVDXCopy, DVDShrink, CloneDVD, etc.
58.
59. . Minimum average bitrate allowed is 3000 kbit/s
60.
61. (2800 kbit/s for tv shows). If minimum average bitrate
62.
63. cannot be achieved, a valid explanation is required in
64.
65. the NFO.
66.
67. . TV-DVDR is NOT required to be deinterlaced.
68.
69. . DVDR is required to be deinterlaced.
70.
71. . Quality Settings:
72.
73. . CCE:
74.
75. . No CBR. Multipass is to be enforced.
76.
77. . The initial 1st pass that encodes the .vaf file
78.
79. in CCE is NOT considered within the multipass set.
80.
81. . The number of passes required for a movie is to be
82.
83. determined by the final avg bitrate. Under
84.
85. 4,000k/s 6+ passes required, over 4,000k/s
86.
87. 5 passes are required.
88.
89. . If a source dvd contains 2 versions of the same film,
90.
91. (ie: WS & FS, theatrical & unrated, etc..) it is up to the
92.
93. ripper as to which versions are removed and/or kept. The
94.
95. minimum bitrate of 3000 kbit/s still applies, so if 2
96.
97. version of same film are retained, BOTH must be 3000 kbit/s
98.
99. or higher.
100.
101. . WS is preferred over FS, but NOT required.
102.
103. . If unable to maintain minimum 3000 kbit/s for both
104.
105. versions and one is stripped, the final dvd is allowed
106.
107. under to be under the minimum filesize of 4.3 Gb. This
108.
109. MUST be explained in NFO.
110.
111.
112.
113.
114.
115. Audio:
116.
117. . Dolby Digital is considered the standard audio format and is
118.
119. required in all releases that contain this audio format.
120.
121. . DVDs that contain only PCM audio are allowed and should
122.
123. be noted in the NFO.
124.
125. . Downsampling of audio tracks, except audio commentary is
126.
127. banned. No downsampling of any other tracks.
128.
129. . If audio is stripped from a DVD9 disk, superior audio tracks
130.
131. need to be kept. e.g. If a DVD contained DD2.0 and DD5.1
132.
133. audio, DD2.0 would be stripped in favor to 5.1. However in
134.
135. regards to DVDs that contain both DTS and 5.1, 5.1 must be
136.
137. kept. The inclusion of a DTS stream is up to the ripper's
138.
139. discretion.
140.
141. . For non-English movies, the movie's original language audio
142.
143. stream must be kept unless it is not contained in the retail.
144.
145. In the circumstances that a reissue/new edition dvd contains
146.
147. an original language audio stream, a re-release of the movie
148.
149. is valid.
150.
151. . For ALL English movies, the English audio stream MUST be kept.
152.
153. . The inclusion of other audio streams will be based upon the
154.
155. ripper's discretion, whether they are foreign or commentary.
156.
157.
158.
159.
160.
161. Notes: DTS/SUPERBIT/DTS-ONLY are issues that cannot be ignored.
162.
163. However, it is not up to us to decide whether they should
164.
165. be allowed or not. Rather, it's up to the SITES that will
166.
167. determine their own appropriate rules. However, those
168.
169. groups that wish to release DTS, SUPERBIT and/or DTS-ONLY
170.
171. should name their directory clearly with the appropriate
172.
173. tags of DTS, SUPERBIT and/or DTS-ONLY.
174.
175.
176.
177.
178.
179. Source:
180.
181. . Releases of superior/remastered editions of previous released
182.
183. DVDs are ALLOWED as they improve upon the initial release.
184.
185. e.g. If a new mastered DVD contains a 5.1 stream compared
186.
187. to an inferior stream in the previous release, the
188.
189. release is considered valid.
190.
191. . Mastered DVDs of: Director's Cut, Criterion, Unrated or any
192.
193. editions with additional/extended scenes are not considered
194.
195. dupes over existing mastered DVDs.
196.
197. . The DVD to be ripped should also be the best available edition
198.
199. on the market.
200.
201.
202.
203. Authoring:
204.
205. . NO ONE CLICK APPS ARE TO BE USED! e.g. InstanCopy, DVDXCopy,
206.
207. DVDShrink, CloneDVD, etc. Anything else like Scenarist or Maestro is
208.
209. acceptable so long as newly reauthored DVDR plays as original does.
210.
211. . VTS Sectors must always be gotten.
212.
213.
214.
215. Subtitles:
216.
217. . Keep them all. If certain subs present a problem, it is the
218.
219. rippers discretion to retain. A reasonable explanation MUST
220.
221. be included in the NFO if any subtitles are removed.
222.
223. . Closed Captioning must be retained if present on source disc.
224.
225.
226.
227. Menus:
228.
229. . Menus MUST be included. In extreme cases where the retail does
230.
231. not contain a menu, it must be mentioned in the NFO.
232.
233. . The menu must be in English and not foreign, unless they
234.
235. are aimed for non-English endusers.
236.
237. . Removing useless links within the menu is required. If you
238.
239. remove something, disable or remove the button.
240.
241. . If all else is stripped and still can't get a 3000k/s avg
242.
243. bitrate, then the menu may be reencoded at a minimum of
244.
245. 3000k/s avg.
246.
247.
248.
249. Extras:
250.
251. . Extras are an added value but are NOT required to be kept.
252.
253. . If extras are reencoded, the following guidelines must be
254.
255. adhered to:
256.
257. . Minimum bitrate of 2500 kbit/sec.
258.
259. . A minimum of 5 passes.
260.
261. . The removal of Blank/Empty/Never Accessed Cells is optional if
262.
263. the main movie bitrate is 3,000k or higher. If the release is
264.
265. tagged COMPLETE, removal is NOT required.
266.
267.
268.
269.
270.
271. DVD Limitations:
272.
273. . Macro vision must be removed.
274.
275. . All PUOs must be removed. Parental management is NOT a PUO.

373. 0123456789 . -_
374.
375. . COMPLETE is for DVD5 and/or DVD9 1:1 copies only! If you
376.
377. reencode OR remove anything (other than copy protection, PUOs,
378.
379. or warnings), you may NOT use the COMPLETE tag.
380.
381. . Complete releases recommended to be named as:
382.
383. MOVIE.TITLE.YEAR.COMPLETE.<NTSC or PAL>.DVDR-GROUP
384.
385. . The use of the COMPLETE tag is recommened in the directory
386.
387. name. If it is not used in the directory name, then it is
388.
389. required to be stated in the nfo if the release is COMPLETE.
390.
391. . Non-Complete releases are to be named as:
392.
393. MOVIE.TITLE.YEAR.<NTSC or PAL>.DVDR-GROUP

396.
397. Season, use Season; if it says Volume use Volume; if it says

400.
401. . Sub directories are to be labeled as DISC1, DISC2, etc.

408.
409. . Propers will be acceptable if any of the above standards are
410.
411. not followed in a release and/or if the previous release had
412.
413. technical flaws e.g. video glitches, audio errors, menu errors
414.
415. etc. However, if the release can be patched, a PROPER by
416.
417. another group or REPACK by initial group will NOT be tolerated.
418.
419. . Just because a previous release was not COMPLETE does not
420.
421. provide a legitimate reason to PROPER/DUPE.
422.
423. . Propers based on previous releases having improper dir names
424.
425. will not be tolerated.
426.
427. . A PROPER based on increased quality when the previous release
428.
429. was within the standards is considered qualitative and will NOT
430.
431. be tolerated.
432.
433. . Propers based on previous releases having improper dir names,
434.
435. incomplete NFO's or bad samples will NOT be tolerated. DIRFIX,
436.
437. NFOFIX and SAMPLEFIX are to be used in these cases.
438.
439. . Regions do not dupe each other, regardless of PAL or NTSC.
440.
441. . MULTI releases are not considered dupes if there are
442.
443. more/different audio or subtitle languages present than on
444.
445. previous releases.
446.
447. . Internal releases must follow these guidelines. Internals are
448.
449. to be tagged properly. (i.e. " iNT", "INT" or "INTERNAL")
450.
451.
452.
453.
454.
455. Tagging:
456.
457. . Intros and outros are not tolerated.
458.
459. . Group watermarks within the DVD are STRICTLY forbidden.
460.
461. . Volume Label must be EXACTLY like the original. Adding any
462.
463. tags to the Volume Label will not be tolerated.
